Nokia To Pull Out Of Japan

http://www.knowledge2know.com/earnmilliondollar.htm
The world's largest mobile maker, Nokia has announced to stop its operation in Japan as it is unable to expand its presence. The company source on November 27, informed that Nokia will cease the sales of mobile phones in the Japanese market except for its luxury Vertu brand. Although Japan stands out to be one of the fourth largest mobile markets in the world, Nokia failed to attain a respectable market position as it faces stiff competition from Japanese mobile makers. According to industry analysts, Japan offers a limited scope for the mobile phone companies as 85 per cent of the country's population already own a mobile phone.

Apart from it, the annual sales of mobile phones are supposed to decline by 20 percent owing to new sales model of Japan. Talking to media, Nokia executive vice president Timo Ihamuotila stated that Nokia is not in a position to sustain its presence in the Japan-specific localized product markets. However, he informed that Nokia's Japanese business would concentrate on research, development and sourcing for the global market as well as specific projects such as the Vertu brand.

Nokia 5000 India: Price, Features, Specifications

Create, Share and Excite' says the Nokia tagline for Nokia 5000. And truly Nokia 5000 lets you create and share more with a 1.3 megapixel camera, FM radio, music player, and various ways to keep in touch.

The Nokia 5000 is one of Nokia's most affordable mobile phones with features of mid-end phones. The most striking about the phone is its design with a green/blue and pink strip of color through the middle to give a bit of artistic flair. The keypads have a smooth feel to them thanks to the raised buttons which makes for responsive number pressing interactivity.

The candybar phone has a high-res QVGA display with a 1.3 megapixel camera. It has an MP3 player with recording functionality and FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, GPRS, and supports Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging to another user with the same software at blazing speeds.

You can get even more from your device with Nokia accessories like Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-102, Nokia Mini Speakers MD-6 and Nokia Wireless Plug-in Car Handsfree HF-33W.

Nokia N97 to be the next worthy Apple iPhone Challenger!

Nokia announces the all new N97, a smartphone unlike its Chinese counterpart. The Nokia N97 is hyped to be a mobile phone  for media enthusiasts and is likely to retail for EUR550 (Rs. 35,010/- approx., taxes not included) in the second quarter of 2009.

The all new Nokia N97 would directly compete with the Apple iPhone and would be lacking in the multi-touch feature. It is now not possible to pinch and Zoom pictures in and out. It has a tilting 3.5-inch touchscreen with tactile feedback and 640x360 pixel resolution i.e with 16:9 aspect ratio.

The Nokia N97 has a full QWERTY keyboard with 5 megapixel camera equipped with Carl Zeiss optics which promises DVD quality videos. There is a personalized home screen as well. It can carry up to 48GB data (32GB internal memory and 16GB expandable memory via microSD), which makes it a multimedia phone with storage device functionality. The all new Nokia N97 is apparently one with the Symbian OS on the prototype shown at the conference.

The So-Lo concept has been introduced in the mobile phone which updates the user on the location based on the data from an integrated A-GPS sensor and an electronic compass. The digital compass is however a very unique feature, present in the App Store for the Apple iPhone.

What's more, the home screen can be customized with social media widgets of popular social networking sites and services. Coupled with support for Nokia Music Store, Nokia has introduced two new Ovi services - Mail on Ovi and Maps on Ovi.

Equipped with the most touted features, the Nokia N97 may be a revolutionary device for Nokia but its timing is relegated to one of the Apple iPhone killers in the market. But will the Nokia brand which is the main highlight for the N97 match iPhone's iconic status, well time will only tell.

Nokia, the biggest mobile handset producing company, is going to launch its latest feat Nokia N8. The new mobile really amazing as it laced with plethora of stunningly incredible features. The gorgeous looking smartphone has got the aluminium scratchproof body and present in vivid colours.
The new Nokia N8 has got 3.5 inch AMOLED LCD touchscreen (scratch resistant gorilla display) with the support of 16.7 million colours.

Apart from Xenon flash the camera has also been advanced with Carl Zeiss optics, a 1/1.183 inch optical format image sensor.

The newly unveiled smartphone is the first handset which has got the Symbian S^3 operating system. The video recorder can capture high definition videos at 25 frames per second.

The new Nokia N8 is powered with ARM11 680MHz microprocessor, which is a little slower than others having 1GHz speed. The users do not have to worry about memory as the handset has got 16 GB inbuilt memory, which is expandable up to 32 GB with the help of microSD card.

The Nokia N8 provides 3G supportability (HSDPA download speed up to 10.2 Mbps and HSUPA upload speed up to 2.Mbps), GPRS supportability and also equipped with Bluetooth 3.0.

The new Nokia handset is priced at Rs 24,999.

Nokia is top mobile gaming device

The Asian ad and social networking specialist just released its Djuzz Mobile Gaming Metrics study, which shows what users are doing on its Djuzz free ad-funded gaming portal.

Djuzz delivered more than nine million gameplays for December, which was an 18 per cent increase, by 120,000 unique daily visitors.

15 of the top 20 devices used by these players were Nokias, accounting for 49 per cent of all downloads.

Competition came from 'white box' manufacturers, which took ten per cent of total downloads for the year.

Elsewhere, BlackBerry increased its share with 0.5 per cent (288,000) of overall downloads, gaining a strong foothold on several key mobile markets such as UK, US and Indonesia.

Nokia continues to lead in mobile handsets shipment, according to IDC

Research firm IDC in its India quarterly mobile handsets tracker for the third quarter of 2010 has said that Finnish handset maker Nokia had the largest share in terms of mobile phone units shipped with 31.5%.

However, the surprise in the handsets shipment party was the Chinese brand G’Five, which emerged as number two player in terms of unit shipments and Korean handset manufacturer Samsung stood at number three in Q3.

The India mobile handsets market continued to grow in Q3 2010 as well to record a quarter-on-quarter growth of 3.6% to touch 40.08 million units, according to IDC India. The year 2010 is expected to end with total mobile handset sales of 155.9 million units.

The number of emerging vendors in India’s burgeoning mobile handsets market grew to 68 and they garnered 41.2% of total shipments (sales) for the first time during the July-Sep 2010 quarter. This represented a steady rise from only 5 new vendors representing a 0.9% combined share of units shipped in the January-March 2008 quarter.

The third quarter 2010 saw a Q-o-Q growth in smartphone sales of 34.2% and a Y-oY increase of 294.9%. This underscores the trend that India mobile handset consumers have started showing higher preference for adopting smartphones.

Smartphone prices continued to drop through the year and as competition increased, devices were made available by vendors at lower price points. So, while 80% of total India smartphone sales were below the ASV (Average Sales Value) of Rs. 18,000 in Q2 2010, this proportion increased to 90% in Q3 2010.

"The India mobile handsets market got more crowded and fragmented in the lower- and mid-market segments with the entry of new players offering innovative models at attractive price points", stated Anirban Banerjee, Associate Vice President, Research, IDC India.

Will Windows Phone 7 turn into another great Microsoft product no one uses?

A couple fellow ZDNet tech bloggers chimed in with thoughts on Windows Phone 7 on Friday and Saturday and I thought I would chime in a bit on the topic as well. Ed Bott asked when Windows Phone 7 was going to get its grand opening and James Kendrick wanted to know if Microsoft could right the ship. I am not quite sure what seems to be holding Microsoft back from a full unveiling and active promotion of Windows Phone 7, but honestly think it is way too early to think Windows Phone 7 will die off like Kin. I have been using a T-Mobile HTC HD7 since launch day and as I will detail below it is my primary device and I am more pleased with it than any other smartphone I have tried in quite some time.
